The challenge: transport horizontally, install vertically
Puragen’s large carbon filters travel horizontally but must stand upright at the installation site. Its existing fleet was due for replacement and used two trailer types. The new solution had to handle three filter sizes, work with different tractors and fit international operations without a changeover between filter types.
That made this more than a transport assignment. VAKO had to design the lifting sequence, filter support and operator controls around the complete journey from road to site.
The solution
A custom trailer that positions the filter on site
VAKO and Pacton developed the chassis and superstructure as one system. A hydraulic tilting frame raises the filter from its horizontal transport position to its upright position. A self-contained powerpack and wireless remote control support operation at different locations. The design accounts for the shifting centre of gravity during the lift and the different dimensions of Puragen’s filters.

Delivered for use in two countries
Puragen, VAKO and Pacton defined the functional requirements together before the trailers were built. Two MSF01 trailers were delivered: one for operation in the UK and one in France. Puragen now has a single equipment concept for transporting and positioning different carbon filter sizes across its sites.
The recorded comparison shows how bringing the lifting function onto the trailer changed the installation process: setup moved from hours to minutes, one operator could control positioning and no separate crane was needed for that step. The trailer, hydraulic system and operating sequence were developed around Puragen’s real filter-handling task.
