Elevated Container Tipping Station for Silo Truck Unloading

A bulk handling equipment supplier and producer needed an elevated tipping station to unload containers directly above a silo truck. VAKO delivered this project in close cooperation with the equipment producer, with the system installed in the Netherlands at the Port of Rotterdam, Maasvlakte.

The installation had to be mounted at height on a support frame built by a third party. The tipping solution also needed to handle 20ft, 30ft and 40ft containers and connect seamlessly to the control system of surrounding components, including the weighbridge. Safety was a key requirement due to operation at height and changing outdoor conditions.

VAKO engineered and built a fully custom tipping table to fit the third-party frame and support three container sizes. The complete tipping table was hot-dip galvanized for long-term durability. For safe operation, the system includes sensor-based protection on all twistlocks, plus wind safety measures, including wind speed and inclination sensors that communicate with the system to keep unloading controlled and stable.

Together with the customer, VAKO designed the solution around the site constraints and the third-party frame. We then built and tested the tipping table and safety functions and completed installation on site. The tipping station was connected to the overall control system and the weighbridge to align with the wider bulk handling process.
