Customer & Situation
For a Danish customer in the scrap processing sector, VAKO developed a solution to load aluminium scrap into 40ft containers as efficiently as possible for transport from the scrap yard to the terminal.
The Challenge
The customer needed a safe, fast, and effective way to load large volumes of aluminium into a 40ft container, with minimal handling and maximum use of the container's loading capacity.
Traditional loading methods were time-consuming and didn't optimize the container space, leading to increased transport costs and reduced efficiency.
Our Solution
VAKO designed a fully custom 40ft vertical loader, specifically tailored to the loading process for this application. The solution was developed in collaboration with Pacton, which supplied the chassis.
The vertical loader allows the container to be tilted to a steep angle, enabling gravity-assisted loading that maximizes fill rates and minimizes handling time.
The Process
VAKO handled the complete design, build, and extensive testing of the system. Our engineering team worked closely with the customer to understand their specific requirements and operational constraints.
The unit was then delivered in Denmark, including full instruction, on-site demonstration, operator training, and joint commissioning tests at the customer's location.
Result & Impact
The customer now has an efficient loading solution that increases throughput, improves safety, and significantly streamlines the transport flow between the scrap yard and the terminal.
Loading times have been reduced by approximately 40%, and container utilization has improved significantly, resulting in fewer trips and lower transport costs.
